Equal Employment Opportunity Policy Statement
Equal Employment Opportunity has been, and will continue to be, a fundamental principle at MPE, where employment is based upon personal capabilities and qualifications without discrimination because of race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, disability, citizenship status, marital status, creed, and/or any other protected characteristic as established by law. This policy of Equal Employment Opportunity applies to all policies and procedures relating to recruitment and hiring, compensation, benefits, termination and all other terms and conditions of employment.
According to the National Society of Professional Engineers: “Engineering is an important and learned profession. As members of this profession, engineers are expected to exhibit the highest standards of honesty and integrity. Engineering has a direct and vital impact on the quality of life for all people. Accordingly, the services provided by engineers require honesty, impartiality, fairness, and equity, and must be dedicated to the protection of the public health, safety, and welfare. Engineers must perform under a standard of professional behavior that requires adherence to the highest principles of ethical conduct.”
This code of ethics is embraced by MPE and all employees are encouraged to go to the website at www.nspe.org/ethics/eh1-code.asp and become familiar with the Fundamental Canons, Rules of Practice, and Professional Obligations that govern the behavior of our engineering industry and firm
Professional Registrations and Exams
MPE supports all employees in attaining their professional engineering licenses and all certifications relevant to their discipline, including LEED tests. MPE pays for the costs of the exams and will pay for time spent while taking the exams. Employees often conduct in-house group study sessions.
It is essential to our company’s success that our employees are highly trained and educated. Engineers and designers must be up-to-date on codes and standards to successfully design projects. Therefore our firm is an advocate of continuing education, both in-house and out. Some employees pursue their bachelors’ or masters’ degrees; others continuously study to receive certifications and obtain necessary CEU’s. MPE provides weekly educational lunch programs and sends employees to conferences, seminars, and workshops. MPE is committed to proactive engineering and offers project management training to selected engineers/designers. Since MPE’s philosophy is to treat clients as team members, good communication skills are imperative.
Professional and Technical Organizations
MPE encourages participation in professional organizations related to an employee’s career. MPE may pay an employee’s membership dues in one professional association. Employees are encouraged to serve on a committee or board and are allotted paid time for this each month.
Performance Management And Compensation Programs
In order to attract and retain a highly qualified and competent work force, MPE has instituted a performance management program to compensate employees in a fair and equitable manner based upon demonstrated job performance, and in accordance with its Equal Employment Opportunity policy. A new employee will go through a training period to educate him or her about the standards, methods, and procedures that have been developed at MPE. Employees receive constructive work reviews designed to address performance and skill developmental needs and interests. Based on the profitability of the firm, MPE offers bonuses, profit sharing and a 401K Match on an annual basis to eligible employees.
