Sustainable design is about giving the building owner a better building that is energy efficient and has a low impact on the environment. Buildings consume approximately 72% of the electricity produced in the United States. Any effort we make as design professionals to reduce energy consumption is the responsible thing to do.

There are few opportunities that are as rewarding as the opportunity to impact areas on a cultural level.  With sustainable design strategies we get to impact the natural environment and help building owners create a sustainable culture within their industry, educational facility, hospital, etc.

David L. Hamera, LEED AP David L. Hamera, LEED AP
Electrical Designer
What Makes Sustainable Design Important to David?
One of the main reasons for my solid commitment to LEED certification and a cleaner environment stems from where I was born & raised.During my youth, Gary Indiana had some of the highest pollution levels in the country. There were days when you literally could not see a traffic light 3 blocks away due to the filth in the air, and fish caught anywhere locally were inedible. I never want to see that happen again - especially here in South West Florida.
